#  STGA Directors Continue Spearheading Research

 On Thursday, STGA directors, Prof. Fawwaz Habbal and Prof. Arthur Kleinman led meetings with two research groups under the Initiative. Harvard Masters in Design Engineering candidates, Hyemin Bae and Jenny Jiang, presented potential problem areas to tackle moving forward, followed by updates from David Chen (Harvard College, Dept. of Anthropology and History of Science) on progess made in literature review of Empty-nesters in China and Taiwan. Later that evening, Prof. Kleinman convened with Chinese collaborators conducting critical ethnography research in the Lishui district in China. Zhang, Xianni presented findings on the caregiving, social, and self-efficiency needs of elderly in the Hefeng Township of Lishui. Gu, Xiaotian presented her research on the chaning positions of elderly in domestic settings. Both ethnographers, are under the supervision of Prof. Pan, Tianshu.

 As this week comes to an end, we continue to highlight the call to truly multidisciplinary, ethnographically study-informed innovations in the form of Social Technology.
