## Welcome!

### **Director's Words**

Social Technology for Global Aging is a collaborative research program involving faculty and students from Harvard and from China. It involves faculty from six of Harvard's schools as well as from Tsinghua, Fudan, Minzu and Nanjing Post and telecommunications Universities. The central idea is to bring together anthropologists, engineers, physicians, design and public health experts and business school faculty in every facet of research concerned with improving eldercare from planning and implementation through evaluation. In this way, we seek to give voice to local inhabitants and professionals so that they can inform interventions which contain both social and technological components and which reflect the core concern to improve the lives of older persons, including those with disabilities, and their family and community caregivers. By so doing, we also seek to develop interdisciplinary methods that can be used to address global aging in other global settings such as the U.S. This website is established to invite viewers to learn about our program's projects, including our seminars, symposiums and the specific research activities of our faculty and students. The project is hosted by the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine of Harvard Medical school and is funded by the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute in Nanjing.
